Found it

I found my key! It went through the washing machine. That's the second time I have left a car key in my pocket and put it through the wash. It's one of those fob keys with the alarm buttons on it. Fortunately, it came out of the wash in working order.

I lost my car key...

It's somewhere in the house, but I can't find it. A missing key is a lot like a missing person. The longer it's missing, the less chance there is of findings it.
