Intel inside the Mac? Gimmie, gimmie, gimmie!

As everyone knows by now, Apple introduced the first Macs built with Intel inside. I knew it was coming, so I wasn't surprised when it was announced. What I didn't know was that the new Intel based Macs would be so fast! What I also didn't know was that the PowerBook would be one of the first machines to be upgraded to Intel.

I must say, I'm super-excited. I haven't owned a Mac for over 7 years, and I am sooo ready to switch back. I was going to get a PowerBook under the assumption that an Intel-based PowerBook was many months away. Not so! In February the MacBook Pros will be here. The question is, do I want to be an early adopter? What kind of problems will be discovered in the first few months? Is it worth the risk or should I wait? I don't know, but given OS X's UNIX underpinnings I have to believe there isn't too much risk. Oh, what to do? I'd love to me the first one on my block with the fastest, coolest laptop on the planet, but I don't want to be the sucker with a first gen lemon either. Anyone got an opinion on this matter? Would you buy a first generation Intel Mac?
