There are Baristas and then there are Baristas

It has recently come to my attention that not all Starbucks are created equal. No, despite the mechanized standardization employed by Starbucks to ensure every cup of coffee is consistently tolerable, some shitty Baristas slip through the cracks.

Generally speaking, this quality of the coffee from a Starbucks is directly proportional the the quality of the surrounding neighborhood. Snobby, well-read neighborhoods result in fairly decent coffee. On the other hand, some neighborhoods produce decidedly less appealing coffee. Take, for instance my recent experience at a Starbucks in San Bruno. Located just a stone's throw away from work, this would seam like a fantastic daily ritual. Unfortunately, the coffee just plain sucks and I've nearly lost the will to work. At this point I'm just going there to get out of the office, but it certainly isn't worth the $3 they are charging for my Latte.
